As sad as it is, The El Mocambo appears to be closing it’s doors. The club has seen the likes of U2, The Ramones and The Rolling Stones. In the eighties it was my local watering hole and I spent a lot of time there with many of the George Brown hospitality students. The El Mo was the place to see up and coming live music and you never knew who might show up.
The questions remain, will someone else pick up the torch and if not will we be able to preserve the sign Grosso and his partner Marco Petrucci’s restored. Fingers crossed Toronto music lovers.
