And so it begins. Day one. Today the CNE opened her gates for the 135th time. This may be your first time attending (or thinking about attending) or it may be a tradition for you. It will be my pleasure to take in all the sights and sounds and share them with you. Music, games, rides, shopping, parades, acrobats, air shows, animals, and the list goes on. Here we go people, 18 days of fun. It’s a whirlwind. I’ll be doing my best to cover the fair and give you a taste of everything. As always, I’m open to suggestions. If I’ve missed your favourite or you’re curious about something, leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
The Bandshell is one of many places to see live music during the fair along with The Midway Stage and The Northern Comfort Saloon. The Bandshell is “big time” at the CNE. Check out the schedule, there are a wide variety of acts coming to The Ex this year. A little something for everyone, hopefully.
I arrived in time to see DIGGY THE DJ getting the crowd warmed up for Down With Webster. Band members include Cameron “Camm” Hunter — rap vocals, vocals, Martin “Bucky” Seja — rap vocals, vocals, Patrick “Pat” Gillett — vocals, guitar Rapping, Tyler Armes — bass guitar, keyboards, Andrew “Marty” Martino — drums, Dave “Diggy” Ferris — DJ, turntables. They’re Toronto boys and they seemed happy to be performing in Toronto. DWW opened with One in a Million and had the crowd eating out of their hands. They’ve had three platinum singles and they’re touring to support the album “Party for Your Life“. Thanks to 99.9 Virgin Radio, Coca-Cola and Metro News for bringing us tonight’s performances.
Note – I did make it to The Food Building before heading home. I stood in the longest line I could find (just kidding) and waited so I could try the Coco Fried Chicken. It was worth every minute. Crispy, yummy, juicy good and don’t skip the biscuit with whipped honey butter. It was SO GOOD!
