Desafio Adventure Company takes us to Finca Luna Nueva
Today we set out to Finca Luna Nueva accompanied by our trusty tour guide Hansel from Desafio Adventure Company. We took an educational walk along a “Mystery Trail” which
led us through the rain forest. There we learned about the biodiversity of the rain forest and about the steps taken by the owners of Finca Luna Nueva to reclaim their “organic” status. We saw birds, lizards, bugs, moths, butterflies, plants, trees and pigs. Yes pigs.
They are organically raised and we were told that the pens are set up so that they can be moved seasonally to take advantage of the natural fertilization the pigs contribute to the land. At Finca Luna Nueva they are focused on healthy foods, healthy eating. In addition, the “Sacred Seeds” program they have a collection of over 300 medicinal plants.
We had lunch at their restaurant and were served all organic food including many of the “super food” ingredients that had been discussed on the tour. Ginger, tumeric, garlic, cacao, garlic, to name a few.
We were whisked back to our hotel where we did a quick change and headed to the town of La Fortuna, followed by a drive out to The River Restaurant. Desafio had set up a dance demonstration to entertain us and to challenge our photography skills. It did both!
And then back to the hotel.
